In Loving Memory — Marilyn Brooks

It is with profound sadness, and with hearts full of love and gratitude, that we announce the passing of Marilyn Brooks on July 4, 2026.

Marilyn was many things to many people — a visionary designer, a tireless champion of Canadian fashion, a mentor to countless young talents, a philanthropist, an artist, and a force of nature whose warmth, humour, and boundless creativity touched everyone who crossed her path. To those of us at the studio, and to her family, she was simply irreplaceable.

For over forty years, Marilyn poured herself into her work with a joy and an intensity that never dimmed. She built something rare — a label, a philosophy, and a devoted community of women who wore her designs and understood that great fashion is about more than clothing. It is about confidence, self-expression, and the quiet pleasure of wearing something made with genuine care. That is what she gave the world, and it endures in every piece that still hangs in a wardrobe, still fits perfectly, and is still loved today.

She leaves behind a trail of magic and flourish — in her designs, in the careers she launched, in the causes she championed, in the lives she made brighter simply by being in them. Marilyn had a gift for making everyone around her feel seen, celebrated, and inspired to be their most creative self. Flying in Marilyn’s orbit was pure joy!

This website exists as a tribute to her extraordinary legacy — forty-plus years of fashion excellence, innovation, and an unshakeable belief in the best of Canadian design. We invite you to explore her story, her work, and the remarkable life she lived so fully and so generously.

She will be deeply missed. She will never be forgotten.

A private funeral will be held for family, with a celebration of life to follow at a later date.

In honour of Marilyn’s legacy and commitment to supporting emerging talent in fashion, donations may be made to Seneca Polytechnic’s School of Fashion.
